EPA response to complaints in closed State Forests

NSW State Forests are sometimes lawfully closed for a range of reasons, especially safety concerns.

Closure of state forests

NSW State Forests are sometimes closed to members of the public for a range of reasons, including due to safety concerns. More information about closures can be found on Forestry Corporation NSW: Closures and notices. A person who enters into a closed forest may be committing an offence under NSW forestry regulations.

EPA’s powers of entry to closed state forests

From time to time, we receive complaints from the community about forestry operations in closed State Forests. The EPA has a comprehensive, pro-active inspection program in place to monitor and enforce compliance in State Forests. EPA authorised officers can enter closed State Forests to monitor and enforce compliance with forestry legislation. Our forestry regulatory activities are published on our register of Crown forestry investigations.
