Integrated waste tracking solution
The EPA, in collaboration with the Queensland Department of Environment, Science and Innovation (DESI), is delivering a new Integrated Waste Tracking Solution (IWTS).

The IWTS is a digital tool that enables waste consignors, transporters and receivers to track and report on the transport of hazardous and regulated waste. It is a key step towards delivering a nationally consistent hazardous waste tracking and data system, a commitment under the National Waste Policy Action Plan and NSW Waste and Sustainable Materials Strategy 2041 (PDF 2MB).
We have engaged KPMG to design, develop and operate the IWTS through the KPMG Origins traceability platform.
Why has the EPA developed the IWTS?
The IWTS is designed to make it easier for industry to meet their regulatory requirements for tracking waste, while supporting a more data-driven and risk-based approach to regulating hazardous wastes.
An online system makes waste tracking easier and quicker. In the IWTS you can create accurate consignment authorisations (‘Movement Authorisations’ in the IWTS), waste transport certificates ('Movements' in the IWTS) and consignments (‘Movements’ in the IWTS) quickly, as well as store and access relevant information whenever you need it.
The rollout of the IWTS in NSW
In NSW, the IWTS replaces our existing tracking systems for hazardous and regulated waste (see table below).

Getting started on the IWTS
The IWTS can be accessed from desktop and laptop computers, and internet-connected tablets or smartphones running the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari browsers. For best results, ensure you are using the latest version of your browser.
Register with theIntegrated Waste Tracking Solution (IWTS) to create an account and begin using the system. Please note that your registration may take 24 – 48 hours to verify.
