Amounts: Rebates of up to $50,000 covering up to 50% of the capital cost of small-scale, on-site recycling equipment or technology.
Eligibility: Businesses that have a commercial and industrial (C&I) waste service at a site in NSW; have a valid ABN and employ one or more full time employees in NSW; and send C&I waste to landfill in NSW. See the guidelines (PDF 562KB) for details.
Businesses can include entities that are registered charities, not-for-profits, public entities (including schools and hospitals), and government organisations.

- cardboard perforator
- commercial worm farms
- compactors
- glass crushers
- granulators
- organics rapid decomposition units (where output is sent to a licenced composting facility)
- plastic injection moulders
- shredders
- smart scales and other food waste monitoring equipment
- source separation bins, wheelie bins, skip bins and other bin equipment – with bin signs and stickers
- trolleys to transport waste and maximise waste separation and diversion

Aims
To increase workplace recycling, the Waste and Sustainable Materials Strategy provides businesses with rebates covering up to 50% of the cost of small-scale, on-site recycling equipment or technology that helps them to avoid, reduce, reuse, or recycle their waste.

Applicants must undergo a waste assessment using the Bin Trim app before applying for one or more rebates up to the maximum amount.
Businesses that saved with a Bin Trim rebate
The Bin Trim rebate enabled Horgans Furniture and homeware wholesaler to purchase a shredder to handle their cardboard waste in-house. Horgans now save 6.1 tonnes of cardboard per year from reaching landfill as well as cost savings for their business.
The Paramount Hotel had its sights set on achieving zero waste to landfill which is a big challenge for a rapidly expanding enterprise. With some good ideas, and a Bin Trim rebate, it’s now Sydney’s first zero waste hotel - and they save thousands of dollars each year.
Plastic waste was business as usual for Furnware but a Bin Trim assessment helped them find ways to keep it out of landfill. Furnware bought a baler with the help of an $11,500 Bin Trim rebate, saving 50% of the cost as well as ongoing waste management cost savings
