The EPA has provided these waste and recycling resources for promoting recycling facilities at events, workplaces and home. Download and use these graphics and signs, copyright free, for any reasonable purpose.

  • Sign artwork is available for both colour and black-and-white printing.

Notes about the graphics files

  • Individual graphics are also available, so you can develop your own signs.
  • You may wish to add council logos, sponsorship information, translations or other information. The signs can be varied to suit your purposes, but please retain their PMS colour codes.

Colours

  • The Australian Standard for mobile bin colours is AS 4123.7–2006 Mobile Waste Containers – Part 7: Colours, markings and designation requirements. This standard is available for purchase via SAI Global. Where applicable, signs have been updated in accordance with this standard.
  • Ink colours are specified according to the Pantone Matching System (PMS). If necessary, adjust colours to match the specified PMS colours as closely as possible.
  • The font is Univers Bold.

File formats

You can choose between TIFF, EPS and JPG formats. Files are suitable for Mac and PC.

TIFF files

  • TIFF files can be opened by graphics software such as Photo Editor, Photoshop, and Paint Shop Pro. This format is ideal for general purpose printing and use. Images can also be pasted directly into applications such as MS Word, Publisher and PowerPoint.
  • The TIFF image resolution is 300 dpi at A4 size. As these files are large, they have been compressed and packaged in a ZIP archive. Use WinZip or UNZIP to extract the image file from this package.

EPS files

  • EPS files can be opened and manipulated by vector graphics software such as Adobe Freehand or Illustrator. They can also be placed in desktop publishing applications like InDesign or QuarkXPress. This format is ideal for high-quality image and print reproduction.
  • NOTE: Due to an Internet Explorer error you may find the files being saved as ‘.PS’ rather than ‘.EPS’. Should this occur, manually rename the file, by changing the file extension to ‘.EPS’.

JPG files

  • JPG files can be opened and used in a wide range of programs, and pasted directly into MS Word and PowerPoint. JPG image resolution is 300 dpi.
  • The graphics are A4-sized designs suited to any kind of reproduction including screen-printing. Files suitable for printing as stickers for mobile garbage bin lids (9 x 20 cm) are also included. File sizes can be modified to suit your needs. If in doubt, discuss image sizes with your printer.
