Take 3 for the Sea used social media to inspire young people to make more positive, sustainable choices.

Take 3 for the Sea created two separate campaigns to drive social change and normalise the NSW single-use plastics ban. The campaigns targeted hospitality business owners and young people. Both campaigns were successful at raising awareness of the bans by tapping into the established, engaged networks Take 3 had created through previous campaigns.
‘I’m Doing It, Are You?’ targeted young people and encouraged the use of BYO products and other sustainable alternatives as an easily established habit that can have a huge, collective positive impact on the planet. Using a social media led approach and supported through email and YouTube, the campaign reached 26,000 people, with high engagement and impression rates within an important young demographic. This was supported by an influencer and ambassador element, broadening the reach and sharing the EPA message to raise awareness of the bans and encourage uptake of reusables in voices that the EPA could not organically produce. Both campaigns reached well over 30,000 people.
Of those who watched the video and completed a survey, 70% said they feel inspired to make changes, highlighting the importance of sharing messaging through channels and voices that are relevant to this demographic.
The campaign was also adopted by several councils to help spread awareness in the lead up to the bans, including Cumberland City, Willoughby City and Byron Shire.
